Most writers give lip-service to the beautiful bodies of women - but also show a deep fear of female sexuality. Women who are sexual creatures are labeled as harlots, whores or usurpers.

There may be those teachings within Islam - but I suspect that those teachings are based as much on the cultural fear of sexuality as they are on Islam itself since CP/QF teachings on sexuality are an oddball combination of Victorian sexual mores, white middle class expectations and a smattering of Christian views.NatureLoverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11431801349592342650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3627300702021032288.post-46651674509563204302017-11-12T23:16:01.194-05:002017-11-12T23:16:01.194-05:00Actually, I ended up on your blog following search...Actually, I ended up on your blog following searches after reading lots on Muslim dress codes for women and their interactions with men. This sure sounds a lot like their conclusions and reasoning: your bodies are only for your husbands to enjoy so you should cover up so you don't tempt anyone who might see you; it's a dangerous world and your male guardians want you safe so don't go out without permission and make sure there is a male relative to help you if you travel outside the normally approved areas; only associate with possible marriage partners in the presence of fathers and brothers; men won't be able to control themselves if you tempt them; your purpose in life is to make a good home for your husband and his dependants; etc.Bookwormhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07548557906198541894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3627300702021032288.post-34398577035886107102016-03-19T22:00:34.391-04:002016-03-19T22:00:34.391-04:00I agree. The Muslim women in my community vary in their choices for clothing - but no one has ever said that bodies were evil.NatureLoverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11431801349592342650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3627300702021032288.post-8835923833191313722016-03-19T09:31:02.312-04:002016-03-19T09:31:02.312-04:00I'm not Muslim, but I have done some research ...I'm not Muslim, but I have done some research on the different types of dress they consider modest and appropriate. The reason they think women should dress modestly varies by individual, sect, and culture. Still, I've never read anything by a Muslim woman that would indicate she believes her body is in some way inherently evil.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10100962947561846852noreply@blogger.com
